Using Directories

Advanced RECLAIM users will have access to a further feature which will allow them to organise their images into different directories. This means for example that the images could be saved into directories such as Tanks, Boats and Bridges. They can then write individual CD/DVDs for each of these directories – one for Tanks, one for Boats and one for Bridges and so on.

Images can be added to more than one directory, by selecting from the drop down list available.

Selecting a directory from the drop down menu. You can close the box by either clicking outside of it or clicking the 'close' button.

Once you have decided where the images belong, click the 'Add to Directory' button. This will then ensure that they are ready to write to disk when you view the contents of the directory.

The names of the directories begin by being called A, B, C, D, E and F. However, the names of the directories are completely configurable. To rename your directories, click on the ‘…’ (directory name edit) button at the bottom of the metadata interface. This will launch a directory name edit window where you can rename each of the available directories. If you decide you want to rename the directory mid-way through a session, any images already in the existing directory will simply be moved to the renamed directory.

Be aware that both the Media View and the Disk View have separate directory views. This can get confusing. This means that there are a total of 14 possible pages to view. Because the directory functionality has increased the complexity of the interface, we maintain a list of All Images, both in the page view and in the CD view. If you get confused about where you are, what you’re looking at and where your images have gone, try going back to the ‘All Images view’ so you can see everything you initially started with and proceed from there.
