You can create CDs and DVDs if you wish to distribute your
metadata and assets. By default ImagenLite is set up to create
CDs but if you want to change to DVD burning click
here.
The CDs and DVDs (To do this simply
make a search of the database for a range of records you wish
to add to your collection.
From the hitlist choose a record

You will see that you have an option to
add the record to a disk view - the 'add to disk view' button
is situated in the bottom right hand corner of each database
record you view.

Click the button
to add the record to the Disk View. The Disk View stores a
list of items which will be written to CD/DVD. You can continue
to navigate through your hitlist and add more items to your
Disk View list - or perform another search and add items from
the new hitlist. You can see the all the items in your Disk
View by clicking the 'disk view' button at any time. To add
more records, simply click the 'Database' button to go back
to the database mode and add more records.
You can remove items from the DIsk
View by clicking the blue cross button.
When you are happy with the list of
items in your Disk View, simply click the 'Write to Disk'
button and follow the onscreen instructions which will ask
you to provide a name for the disk and insert disks at the
required time.

Your disk(s) will now be burned using your computers CD/DVD
drive - ImagenLite will keep you informed of progress. Your
disk will contain the following:
The Original Audio/Visual Material.
A HTML menu. To help view
the contents of the disk, all the audio/visual material copied
onto the disk is viewable through a web browser. This is launched
automatically when the disk is inserted into the disk drive
of any Windows PC. The user can then view the contents of
the disk from a standard web browser interface based on a
menu of thumbnails and a summary of metadata. From this menu
they can view full metadata records, full size still images
and replay video.
CSV/XML data
export. The disk also contains a CSV database file
for third party databases and an Imagen database file (Import.imx)
which can automatically imported into a Cambridge Imaging
Systems Imagen database..
RTF document. The RTF file can be opened
and edited using Microsoft word. The RTF file lists the metadata
description for each asset next to a preview image from each
of the media objects. This document can be used as the basis
for a report.
ImagenLite is setup by default to
burn to CD but it can be configured to burn to DVD disk if
you are planning to export large amounts of data. You can
convert your ImagenLite to a DVD burning version by changing
a value in the registry. Click Start/Run, type in regedit
and look for a programme called Reclaim under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/CIS/Reclaim.
For this application you will see an entry called 'Burn CDs'.
For CD burning this is set to the value of 1, for DVDs this
should be set to the value of 0 (Base should be set to Hexadecimal
- see pic below). The next time you restart ImagenLite it
will burn either CDs or DVDs depending on whether you have
entered the value 1 or 0. If this all sounds unfamiliar and
complicated please contact your system administrator.
